Celebrating 25 Years

Picture
The Sheffield Fair is a free, family-friendly agricultural fair celebrating Sheffield, its people, farms, families, local businesses, volunteers, and community spirit. Held each year at Sheffield Town Park, the Fair brings neighbors together for a day of animals, children’s activities, entertainment, vendors, food, hayrides, contests, and old-fashioned small-town fun.
In 2026, the Sheffield Fair celebrates its 25th anniversary. Since 2001, this volunteer-run tradition has grown into one of Sheffield’s most beloved community events while staying true to what makes it special: welcoming, accessible, local, and powered by neighbors.

About This Year’s Date: This year, the Saturday after Labor Day, in addition to being the long-time date of the Sheffield Fair, also happens to be Rosh Hashanah. Fair organizers discussed the conflict, considered alternatives, consulted members of the local Jewish community, and ultimately decided to keep the Fair on its traditional day. We recognize the significance of the holiday and understand that some neighbors may not be able to attend. We are grateful for the care, honesty, and community spirit that helped inform this decision.

Who is the new Fair Steering Committee?

The Sheffield Fair Steering Committee came together when longtime organizer Rene Wood asked for new leaders to step forward after the 2025 Fair to help carry the tradition forward. The committee includes Sonia Kilmer Gale Sawtelle, who spent childhood in Ashley Falls and now lives nearby in North Canaan; Kathy Orlando, a lifelong Sheffield resident; and Kim Andrews, a newer Sheffield resident. Together, we are working with volunteers, community partners, vendors, sponsors, and town leaders to honor the Fair’s long tradition while helping it grow into its next chapter.  Click on one of our names, above, to send a direct email.
Sheffield Fair Committee members include: Jaynie Smith, Nicole Robarge, Kaleigh Eichstedt, Laura Grunfeld, Sierra Blodgett, Michael Butler, Bob Healy,, Charlie Lockenwitze, and Becky Pratt. If you'd like to be part of the Sheffield Fair Committee, please email one of the Steering Committee, above, or [email protected] and we'd love to chat!
